A great list of YouTube channels, websites, and more related to Karuta!

All-Japan Karuta Association YouTube Channel – sometimes streams and uploads notable matches, such as the Meijin and Queen matches. In case they update their URL (it currently seems to be a random URL because they did not update their handle), the Japanese name for the channel is “全日本かるた協会”, so you can try searching that in YouTube as well.

  • While I believe most of their videos are matches, note that 1) matches can be great study material to see good form and posture, follow along with, and occasionally even get insight from the commentary if you understand Japanese, and 2) they do have occasional other videos, such as this English introduction video, or this video on properly reading the poems.

Karuta Club YouTube Channel – Made by Masayoshi Kawase, a Meijin, some of its videos also have English subtitles!

Karuta Club Website – The website associated with the above channel. While it’s in Japanese, it seems to have a lot of useful information, and may be understandable enough to be helpful with something like Google Translate.

Meguriai Karuta‘s YouTube Channel – A YouTube channel with matches from one of the more notable foreign Karuta clubs.

Hanayori Karuta – An English blog by an experienced Karuta player covering the poems and various other topics.

“Karuta Chat” Podcast – An English podcast covering various topics. Also available on YouTube.

アデノシン’s Channel (Adenoshin)
